The Mayor’s Music Fund works with every London borough to provide outstanding progression and development opportunities to children and young people who demonstrate musical talent and a commitment to learning an instrument.
- To award four-year scholarships to primary school children who are identified as having potential but whose families struggle to pay for their on-going lessons.
- To fund partnerships between music services and London’s top professional arts organisations, providing thousands of 7-18 year old musicians with overall musical development.
- To implement robust monitoring and evaluation procedures in order to develop a replicable model.
We are not a fund for every child, nor are we a fund for identifying and nurturing a handful of future world-class performers. We exist to address the imbalance in the huge and often neglected middle ground between first access and high musical achievement.
